Seafood Training Centre of Excellence
A key role of the newly established Seafood Training Centre of Excellence is to improve the quality and standard of vocational education and training to develop a dynamic and suitably trained workforce for the seafood industry.
MISA partners will be tapping into the resources of the Centre, which was incorporated in Sept 2006 by the South Australian Government to provide a “one stop shop” for seafood industry training, namely:
- Keeping government abreast of training needs and issues in the seafood industry
- Working closely with the industry’s key training providers – currently the Australian Fisheries Academy and TAFE SA, to maximise use of available training resources
- Communicating with industry & its peak bodies to ensure training is relevant and demand driven
- Developing alliances & networks with government and relevant industry groups to enable the seafood industry to share resources, efficiencies, facilities and ideas
- Securing additional training resources for the industry
- Liaising with leading maritime and aquaculture training & research organisations
