How will the Australian seafood industry manage as the impacts of climate change start to bite? Free symposium….

Seven of Australia's leading researchers will look at the many challenges presented by climate change and the tools and knowledge being developed to help industry adapt, at a special FREE half-day symposium being held as part of the Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA) conference in July.

The Symposium called Australian seafood industry response to a carbon-based future, is at the Adelaide Convention Centre, 9th July from 1:30 to 5pm.

To attend your free session you must register with MISA before 8th July.

Macquarie Island fur seals forced to interbreed

Ocean glider launched

A high-tech Seaglider, measuring ocean currents, water temperature, turbidity, salinity and the presence of phytoplankton, has recently been deployed off Portland, Victoria.  Article published in the Portland Observer, 27th May 2009.

Integrated Marine Observing System - Data user workshop

The Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) observes the oceans around Australia providing data to support research on many of the critical marine issues facing Australia, including climate change and sustainability of ecosystems.  A workshop is being held aimed at increasing the awareness and use of the high quality data, facilitate communication within the marine science community and enable participants to examine practical examples of the data.  More information on the IMOS Data User Workshop...
