Research closes in on marine pests

Biological invasions are on the rise as the number of marine species moving across the world’s oceans increases.  South Australia is positioning itself as a leader in the management of, and research on, marine pest incursions, by linking into the national framework for monitoring and marine pests, and developing robust molecular assays to assist in identification.  More….

Caulerpa: here today, not gone tomorrow

Caulerpa taxifolia, a highly invasive macroalgae, is now known to be in eradicable from the Port River and Barket Inlet in South Australia, raising concerns over a large scale spread of this weed into the Gulf of St.Vincent.  An Environmental Risk Assessment of its presence in South Australia has recently been completed.  More…. 

Today’s seafood industry R,D&E news…..direct to you mobile

An upcoming MISA project, funded by the Australian Seafood CRC project looks at new and innovative ways to extend research results to the seafood industry.  A pilot project aims to produce six monthly news videos ‘Seafood Industry News’ (1-2 minutes in duration) that can be viewed on a mobile phone, either directly with Multimedia Message Service (MMS) or via a web link.  More….

Extension of MISA research results and activities are now available under the ‘Extension’ menu on the MISA website.

MISA Overview - Updated version available

We are now 5 years down the track with MISA and as such an updated MISA Overview, outlining MISA achievements to date; research focus; and future direction, is now available.  View a copy of MISA’s Overview.  Hard copies are also available from the SARDI Aquatic Sciences Library.
