MISA Symposium “Australian Seafood Industry Response to a Carbon-Based Future" at AMSA 2009

At the Australian Marine Science Associations National Conference, seven of Australia's leading researchers met at the MISA sponsored Symposium and discussed the many challenges presented by climate change and the tools and knowledge being developed to help industry adapt. The Symposium brought together some of the available science that can assist in identifying the climate change drivers and future landscape in which seafood industries will potentially be operating. The impacts on seafood industries and strategies for responding to them in the areas of mitigation, adaptation and future opportunities were also discussed.

Official Opening of the Lincoln Marine Science Centre - Stage II

The Deputy Premier, Kevin Foley officially opened Stage II of the Lincoln Marine Science Centre (LMSC) at Port Lincoln on Wednesday, March 18th 2009, reinforcing the strong collaborative relationship between marine science researchers and the South Australian seafood industry.

MISA Showcases SA Aquaculture

MISA showcased the collaborative work of its partners - SARDI Aquatic Sciences, Flinders University, the University of Adelaide, SA Museum and PIRSA Aquaculture as well as the Australian Fisheries Academy (AFA) - at the 2008 Australasian Aquaculture Conference at the Brisbane Convention Centre in August.

Australian Marine Sciences Association (SA Branch) Annual Symposium (PDF)

'The theme for AMSA-SA annual symposium this year is "Spencer Gulf: Ecology and Oceanography of an Inverse Estuary". 

This is an open call for contributions to the symposium. We hope to get an exciting mix of presentations, so a two-day event is being planned to avoid concurrent sessions. The symposium is to be held on the 16th and 17th October 2008 (Thursday and Friday) at SARDI Aquatic Sciences.
